Operating your food trailer isn’t just about what you cook—it’s also about how safely your systems run. Whether you’re running a compact food cart or a full-service food truck, knowing how to properly use the water and power setup is crucial.
Before stepping into your food cart, make sure the jockey wheel is securely down and all four leg stands are properly locked in place. Don’t forget to use the handbrake or wheel stoppers when parked.

Here’s what to do:
Fill your fresh water tank using a garden hose until it overflows from the top inlet.
Connect your trailer to a reliable power source.
Plug in the water pump and water heater.
Run the cold tap to fill the system, then wait 3–5 minutes for the water heater to warm up.
Test your hot water.
🚨 Important tip: Never run the pump while the tap is closed—it could burn out. Always switch off the pump when not in use.
Your food truck is a mini kitchen on wheels. Treating it with care means fewer breakdowns, smoother operations, and happier customers.
